Every Third Thursday of the Month – NAAM Borrel

Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 3pm – First Annual NAAM Skating Party

Let's enjoy the cold Minnesotan winter and have fun on the ice! Don't forget to bring your own skates (and your hockeystick if you wish). We plan to set up a 'Koek en Zopie' stand. Please bring some hot chocolate, cups and cookies to share.

Place: The outdoor ice skating rink at Lake of the Isles, Minneapolis. The warming-house is located at East Lake Of The Isles Pkwy and West 25th Street.

Saturday, April 19, 2008 and Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 10am – Indonesian cooking class

Elly and Nikki Metler are once again teaching Indonesian cooking. The next hands-on classes this year are on April 19 and May 31. Each class cost $15 for NAAM members and there is a limit of six students per class. Classes run from 10.00 AM until 12.00 Noon and end by eating the just-cooked products for lunch. Sunday, April 27, 2008 – NAAM Koninginnedag Party

You and your family are invited to NAAM's official celebration of the Queen's birthday (free for NAAM members). Enjoy socializing with old and new friends, enjoy an oranjebitter (or other drink) with hapjes (snacks). We will have a vrijmarkt where children (and adults!) can sell or exchange stuff. There will also be games, crafts and a bouncy moonwalk!

June 28, 2008 – Amina Figarova concert

Amina Figarova is without doubt one of the most productive jazz composers and talented jazz piano players from Europe. Now living in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, born in Baku, Azerbaijan, Amina started playing piano and composing at a very early age. She studied as a classical concert pianist at the Baku Conservatory, jazz performance at the Rotterdam Conservatory and the Berklee College of Music in Boston.

The Amina Figarova Sextet will perform at the 2008 Twin Cities Jazz Festival.

Sunday, July 20, 2008 – NAAM Summer Picnic Summer Picnic
Sun 7/20/2008, 1pm - 4:30pm.
Tartan Park, Lake Elmo (click for map).

You and your family are invited to join NAAM's annual summer picnic! This is a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and meet new ones. The picnic will be at Tartan Park, picnic area 2A.

The park is famous for its large playground, sandy volleyball field and nice shaded seating. NAAM will bring the BBQ, the (cold!) soft drinks (or pop, as they say in Minnesota!) and of course, the annual piņata.

So come one come all, bring something to share (salad, desert -- be creative).

Directions: I-94, exit 253 Manning Ave, go North on Manning Ave (CR15) for 1.5 miles. Left on Manning Trail for 0.7 mile, go left on 20th Street N for 0.5 mile. Pass club house entrance and take Tartan Park Picnic entrance. Go 0.4 mile and on the right is picnic area 2A
