Lake of the Isles
Minneapolis, MN

After feeling very sorry for ourselves not being able to join all the ijspret back in the Netherlands, it was finally our turn. For the second year in a row, the NAAM skating party took place at Lake of the Isles. The invitation told us the event could be cancelled due to weather conditions. Of course we were thinking of too cold, too snowy... but it was almost too warm! Luckily, when the Party started the sun disappeared behind the clouds and it even became a little chilly, but: it left us with a great sheet of ice. About 40 members (double the size from last year!!) were able to find the orange Koek & Zopie table, our landmark on the lake. The ice was perfect for some racing on houtjes and for the kids to push the chairs (that's how you learn how to skate, instead of balancing on your hockey stick like the Minnesotans do!).

It was a great social event for Jong en Oud. While sipping on a cup of hot chocolate, we were able to catch up with our old friends and meet new ones.

Goed gemutst en met rode wangen ging 'n ieder weer huiswaarts!
